Hello, Friday. I’m glad you are here. This sure was a busy week.
Some things from the week worth mentioning:
Healthy eggplant parm. I love this recipe, and it always tastes especially good after Two A Day. This week we baked it instead of cook on the stove top. I think I liked it even better than before!
I love, love, LOVED the ladder workouts from Best Body Bootcamp. I taught one in Circuit Training on Tuesday and everyone was all, “what? why are we resting after 5 reps?” even though I told them it would seem light at first and get progressively harder as we did 6 reps, 7 reps, 8 reps, 9 reps, and 10 reps of each move. But nope, still got the deer in headlights looks. Then slowly the deer in headlights looks turned into death glares as we neared the 45 reps of each move. Strength endurance, baby!
You know what else was received with deer in headlights looks? The concept of SLOW AND CONTROLLED reps. Down… pause… up… pause… is ONE rep. Not 3 super fast and ineffective reps. We were laughing about it together, but it took a while to get the hang of not rushing through things!
Look how sweaty I was after class:
Also check out Ashley’s very pretty headband. She had my back after I sent out this email to my gym friends an hour before classes (I was already at the Y for a meeting):
Title: VERY IMPORTANT
Body: Does anyone have an extra workout headband they can bring to classes tonight!?! I forgot mine and clearly it’s an EMERGENCY!!!!
I seriously cannot get as good of a workout in without a headband on. Thank you, Ashley! I will bring it back all clean to you next week.
My VERY random workout playlist:
If you download these bad boys, make sure to cut Scream Little Susie a little short. Otherwise your class will be scared.
Hmm what else?
Wednesday night I went to The Met Bar with the girls for more Katrina & Geoff engagement celebrations. I forgot to take a picture of my burger in a bowl (LOVE that there is a bowl option on their menu) but YUM it was delicious. For any soon to eat at The Met Bar readers, please do yourself a favor and order the Manhattan burger (Swiss cheese, bacon, sautéed mushrooms and onions) in a bowl with mixed greens. And splurge a bit for sweet potato fries and a glass of white wine. It’s worth it.
I missed teaching my Circuit Training class yesterday, but I know Christine kicked your bums in my place.
Can we also discuss how apparently the weather people decided they would start naming winter storms now? Like, since when does that happen? Wednesday night’s first little nor’easter of the season was named ATHENA. Ha! I lost count of how many messages/emails I got that day with people telling me about it as if they were the first ones to be in the know. Guess what? Unless you are named Jen Ryder, you did NOT inform me of this.

This is what Jen sent to me months ago and told me that she hopes winter storm Athena doesn’t kick everyone’s bums as much as I do in class. LOVED that FB wall post. Also, please click on that source link and read what the weather channel is providing as the origin of my name. I think it’s pretty spot on, especially that last part.
Speaking of Jen, she totally rocked her first MARATHON last weekend. Go Jen!!
Not so fun part of my week… my foot has been acting up again this week which is SUPER FRUSTRATING since I had a not so great workout week last week. I’m hoping it’s just another typical bunion flare up because I’m 90 years old and that it will calm itself down. Although since I’m going to be at a three-day fitness conference all weekend, I’m not sure how that hope is going to go.
Yep, I’m off to the Boston Mania convention this weekend up in Danvers, starting today. There are a ton of classes being offered, and I’m excited to learn some new things, fulfill some of my continuing education classes, and maybe meet some new people.
Check out all my snacks for the weekend packed and ready to go!
I’m hoping to share some recaps with you of my experiences at Boston Mania, but if you haven’t noticed, I’ve been having trouble keeping up with my regular blogging schedule lately (it’s really bothering me) so I don’t want to make any promises.
Since this was a pretty freakin’ random and all over the place post, leave a comment that’s either all over the place or tell me something random.
Have a fantabulous weekend!
Thanks for the shout out! After a week of resting, I’m ready to get back into my routine!

I have decided that you need some of these–you are a great snack-packer, but these are more enviro. friendly than plastic baggies, because you can just wash them with your laundry!
I am so in need of a good headband too. Love my Sweaty Bands!
And love the way the ladders progressed and the description of how your classes reacted. Haha!
Great class on the Swiss ball with Joyce today. That ladder class sounds interesting….
