Goooood morning.
Last night I was pumped and ready to get my cardio on, especially after too much food at Friends-giving on Sunday. I had grand plans to do some Best Body Bootcamp climbing intervals on the elliptical, but when I got to the gym around 5pm I decided I just didn’t feel like “machining it.” Ashley’s Cardio Cutz class sounded much more fun and would work well with the timing of my night:

Hang signs for Thanksgiving schedule, review feedback forms from suggestion box, gather instructor certifications.
For those wondering about the Thanksgiving schedule:
5:30-6:15
Ashley’s Cutz class, YAY. I used 4 pound weights which I hadn’t done in a LONG time, and my arms were definitely feeling it! For those unfamiliar with Cardio Cutz, it’s a Corpbasics class that is very high rep. You really should never grab weights higher than four pounds, which maybe seems very light but I promise you by the end of a Cutz class your arms will certainly feel it even if just squeezing your fists the entire time without weights. I was bummed I had to cut out of Cutz slightly early, but glad I finally could make this class for once.

Set up for Dynamax bootcamp, quick snack, choose playlist

Subbed Monique’s Dynamax class! These folks worked SO HARD. I love, love, LOVED teaching them. Especially since I used a bunch of sweet moves from the Dynamax workshop I took at Boston Mania. I was pumped to try the new exercises on a real class!!
Disclaimer: I did not create some of the exercises below, nor did I come up with this entire class format on my own. I also am not sure I am truly using the “official” names for some of the moves I did. The material below is a combination of new formats I learned in Boston Mania, the results of some online searches today, and a little creativity on my behalf to put it all together. For more on Dynamax, please click over to their website as well as their YouTube channel! I want to make sure they get full credit for the things I post about them.
In this workout, anything noted with the word partner is obviously done with a partner, but it’s important to note that each partner takes a turn being the trainer versus the trainee. Since my gym only has six Dynamax balls, anything noted with a slash (/) meant that one person was doing a move with the ball while the other was doing the other move on a mat. Finally, anything listed by itself was done twice — the partners just alternated who used the ball for the move versus who did not. That was kind of mean of me with squat jumps, pushups, and burpees all in a row… for 45 seconds with the ball, and 45 seconds without.
If you are interested in this kind of class, the Y offers it as part of our specialty group programming, and Monique is a fabulous instructor!! The class is on Mondays from 7-8pm, and while we are halfway through the session we are offering the rest of the session classes at a pro-rated rate. It’s pretty much the closest thing you will get to personal training without actually paying for personal training. I’m subbing for Monique again next week, so if you want more information let me know. I can get you the deets.
My core is already sore. Sore core! Let’s just say I have another new fitness obsession.
Have you tried Dynamax before? Thoughts?
Have a terrific Tuesday!! My night tonight is not a regimented as last night’s, but it IS Two A Day Tuesday. Get excitedddd.
Now I know my repeated chants about “stuffing and gravy” were already relevant to you, since you had Friends-giving this weekend. Ha! Thanks again for coming! I always appreciate your support 😉
Thanks for teaching!! Looks like you kicked their butts just as I would have– the good thing about that class and group of people is that they KNOW and EXPECT that by paying for the class:) I love it! bummed to miss next week again:(
